Storyteller’s Magic: The Teachable Moment

The children look at me, expectation written on their faces. They are waiting. Interest is piqued. I know it is a teachable moment.

I jump in. I make my case. I take the time to draw them into it, to create growing curiosity, to put them “there.” There are ways to and not to tell a story.

It is the art of the storyteller.

Then the magic happens. They’re with me. Not only the children but the adults are transfixed. Silence is laced with eagerness. Tell us, their faces implore.

I use the moment to ask a question, a well-intentioned question, one to make them think outside the box of normal conventions. They speak up. Their answers build one upon another.

They’re still with me.

We are at the climatic point of the lesson’s objective. Suspense and quietness fills the room. Then I tell the end of the story, and its message in-meld with its conclusion. The children eagerly respond.

I listen to their comments.

Yes, they understand the story’s point. The message applies to their lives and now they see how. It is happening once again; the magic, gift, awareness; the connecting, energy, and thrill. I am satisfied.

Such is the joy of teaching.

The Need for On-Line Community

On-line learning is an amazing new reality for many including me.

Oh my!

There is so much to learn and so much to do in the online social network. There is connecting, platform building, presence, brand, voice, marketing, sales and more.

And much more. After I wrote my first book, I decided to bring myself up to speed through the online community. I am still there. I will continue on.

A lot of social presence and online presence is about community. There is much to see and do, in fact it is quite remarkable all things told.

We can share our product or voice with the whole world, literally. Never has there been such opportunity to give out to others what we have to sell or tell, share or care.

At our fingertips we have the power to change a life. My message may go to someone who desperately needs to hear it. It is that amazing.

The online presence is a tool, a vehicle for outreaching and connecting with others. It morphs and defines itself as it streamlines and sophisticates its powerful potential.

Online learning is like exploration in the computer age. Go for it.
