Godly Repentance (Part 4 of 6)

GODLY REPENTANCE

On the heels of this sense of godly sorrow comes a repentance like no other that will well up.

REPENTANCE is a hatred of the evil thing within you. It is a surrender of your will to God and to surrender the wrong to God. In true sorrow and repentance there is an openness and honesty like a two-edged sword, which rightly divides the thoughts of the heart.

We should see through the glass clearly, see who we really are, and no longer in the darkness–not realizing who we are.  In self-examination when real repentance is at work in you, the pain in you is intense, searing, regretful, emotional, and truthful. There is no hiding or subterfuge.  You become spent, exhausted, uncertain. Then, eventually, after you repent of it, you are free.

Godly Forgiveness (Part 5 of 6)

GODLY FORGIVENESS

FORGIVENESS does not come easy.

We can have a wrong perception about forgiveness. Forgiveness frees us from being entrapped as in being negatively bound to the person who betrayed, rejected, harmed, or hurt us. God says to forgive those who have trespassed against us.

Forgiveness is a way of letting it go, giving up the angst, bitter feelings, anger, and indignity of it all. Give it to God. He can handle it.

Harbored resentment or anger is something that deadens your inner person. You need to be free of it to live fully whole. Some big things, like abuse, require some delicacy. Abuse impacts and is a crime against you as a person. God helps in the forgiving process. God frees you from the evil that has been done to you.

Forgiving the person who hurt you is possible when you ask God to help you forgive that person for what they did to you. He shoulders it with you, otherwise it would be impossible. By forgiving them, it detaches and separates you, the victim, from them, the abuser. It is not simple, and I recommend you walk through this with a qualified person.

God is willing to help you. If this seems impossible, ask a praying friend to pray with you until the peace of God enters and frees you from the hurtful deed. Ask for scripture, peace, help. This will take much prayer. Satan will buffet you. He does not want you or anyone to walk in freedom.
