LABOR DAY & THE AMERICAN WORKER

Labor Day is a celebration of the American Worker.

America is grateful for its workers’ successes, contributions, and hard work.

Growing up as a kid in the 60s and 70s, Labor Day always meant that summer vacation was coming to a close. The day after Labor Day was when the school year would begin. I didn’t understand the significance of Labor Day.

It is my understanding that the first Labor Day came after a period of violence in which 30 laborers, on strike, were killed. It was in the late 1800s. Tragic and sad.

We wouldn’t have much of an America without the American worker.

Many more stories should be written about these hard working individuals.

So today, American Worker, thank you for what you do, the many functions and positions, your part in keeping this nation alive and well.

THANK YOU!
